Live In the Moment

And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less” (Elder Ballard’s talk May, 2008 quote by Author Anna Quindlen speaking of her children)

- I put this on here to remind me to take time to enjoy the little things in life, or to enjoy the moments that make some of Life's Precious Memories.

Busy Girl

Rebecca has discovered the art of crawling. Not just the scoot and lunge movement she was doing to get where she wanted. She's been crawling for about a week and she is everywhere! Yesterday I left her in the middle of the Living Room and panicked when I couldn't find her. She was in the girls room playing with the toys. I wouldn't have guessed, usually she's trying to find me so she'll either head for the kitchen or my bedroom. She will also find in my bedroom this...
(please see picture).
Oh yes, she loves to get in here and take out all of the movies and take down my books. Just when I got the last child to stop it, here's the next one doing her best to create havoc. And I'm so happy about it, because it means she's a perfect, beautiful little baby.

It's A Bridge

Apparently this is a bridge. I don't know what you do with your books, but ours make some really awesome bridges (where do they get these ideas?).

My Beautician

That's right folks. There is a beautician in the family. Anyone want a haircut?

You'd think I'd learn my lesson, right? I found out the hard way a couple months ago that scissors were no longer safe on the counter. There went a couple articles of clothing. You would think that in my sewing box, on the counter would be ok, right? Wrong! There went a few of my nice pictures that I laminated nicely. Then there was the children's scissors hidden on the counter. Nope, there went a few more pieces of paper. So, I learned my lesson and kept my scissors in my bedroom and my girls are not allowed in my bedroom (there are a few exceptions if they are escorted and watched by me). Then yesterday I was doing some bows with a friend and left the scissors on the kitchen table to go get my crying baby out of the crib, talk to my Mom on the phone and swing Meredith outside to get her to stop crying. Ooops. I came back in to start dinner and looked down. It took me a little while to register what it was and then I wasn't very happy. I'm still upset about it especially because after we went to the real beautician it still looks HORRIBLE. But I'm sure that in a year (after the hair is grown back) it will be plenty funny, so I'm blogging it.

Cans (the favorite toy)

It's amazing that stacking the cans never gets old. The toys get old, but definitely not stacking the cans. Blocks, that was so yesterday. Here is Meredith's new way of stacking the cans.

Handing them to Daddy! "Here you go Daddy." Hmmm, I wonder how many he can hold.

Ok, let's see if he can handle another one.

What will we come up with next?

Baking with the Girls

If anyone asks why I don't bake with my girls, this is why. I accidentally turned on the mixer too fast and poof. It was funny at first, until Meredith started to cry because Mommy wouldn't hold her because she was trying to take a picture. (Now that I think about it, that would probably make me mad too.)

After Emily frosted her cookie I made her take a picture before she ate it. That's why she's giving me that LOOK. It's hilarious.

And last but not least, the HAPPY picture. She liked the part where she ate the cookie.

Lotion Mess

So, Emily really loves lotion. My girls have always loved lotion. They ask for me to put it on them all the time, and when I do they always ask for more. Anyhow, here is what Emily did to my lotion (my nice facial lotion).

It is difficult to get a guilty child to smile for the camera. lol.

Mommy hard a study, Children hard at ...

DESTRUCTION!!! I wish I could get as far in my school work as they do at destroying the house. This is the best looking room in my house (minus the girls room because I had to clean that up before they napped in it). This is what happens when I try to study. And Emily is also learning how to put in her own dvds into the dvd player. Most of the time she puts it upside down, but not today. Meredith is definitely capable of destroying stuff by herself, but Emily (the girl in the "terrible twos") is incredibly fast and has learned how to get around ANY obstacle. Put it up high, doesn't work. Hide it, don't kid yourself. I have found one place that works. The microwave. I make sure she doesn't see where I put it (usually the plate of cookies). One time we left the cookies on top of the microwave which resulted in quite a tummy ache for her. You think that would have taught her a lesson, no. Mommy vs. Children. Children 1, Mommy 0. Is it time to go to bed yet? lol

Baby proofing

I'd just like to state (for the sake of the previous post) that I have that kitchen heavily baby proofed. I have stuff on the oven so they can't turn the knobs, something for the fridge so they can't open it, and a baby gate for each opening. I am still looking for something to baby proof the water dispenser, so if you know of anything PLEASE let me know. Emily likes to grab one of her little chairs and climb the fences. I thought about taking those away, but then I realized that she will just use her radio rocket (has wheels, not a good idea). And if I took that away we have countless other things we could climb (dolly stroller, toy grocery cart, etc.). And a higher fence, just more dangerous to climb. So, I keep it up to keep the baby out of most of the messes and to slow Emily down. Lets just say that I took the fence down for all of 5 min and accidentally left the butter on the counter.

Butter and Bread (Bread and Butter)

Anybody for some butter and bread? We like a little bit of bread with our butter. :P

And of course, Emily denies all of it. (Doesn't that piece of bread look tasty? Mmmmm. (gag))

Innocent or guilty? Definitely guilty. Proof caught in hair.

And Meredith has had so much fun. At least that makes one of us.

Note to self - add butter to grocery list (it was an almost completely full thing of butter).

What a MESS!

To laugh or cry? So after making a million messes today, I just laughed and grabbed the camera. Of course you can see the canned food mess and they aren't wearing pants because we were outside playing with chalk. The pants had to go into the laundry. That's the tip of the ice burg. Nobody would believe all the messes if I didn't take a picture, so here it is. Just laugh. The title is my quote. Meredith was all smiles it was great fun, but Emily. She knew she was in trouble and wondered what in the world was wrong with Mommy who was all grins and trying to make them smile for the camera. Mommy'd lost it obviously.
