Live In the Moment

And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less” (Elder Ballard’s talk May, 2008 quote by Author Anna Quindlen speaking of her children)

- I put this on here to remind me to take time to enjoy the little things in life, or to enjoy the moments that make some of Life's Precious Memories.

Terrible Twos

And so it begins...our Rebecca has learned the joys of the Terrible Twos. Such a handful and so incredibly cute to boot. She's keeping me on my toes and we just adore her.

World's Best Daddy Let's Mommy Nap

A while back, many Sundays ago, but still fairly recently, I was SO tired that I took a nap and Daddy was left in charge. Here's what kept them occupied for part of the time.

Playing with Masking Tape! Who'd have thought. I think I left it out from my staff project. Oh, you have to have a picture of that one now. I made a giant staff for my piano students. I LOVE it. Meredith is SO interested in taking piano lessons that she's faster at finding the notes than a some of my students. After reading lessons though.

World's Best Daddy. I have NO idea who was in charge of the camera. Meredith?

Rebecca and the Birthday Cake

Rebecca with her "1" pancake for her first Birthday. I put it on her tray and as soon as I did...

she ate it. I was just lucky to have caught the first picture.

My "Happy" Happy Birthday girl.

The last two are pictures of her eating her Birthday cake. And, as you can tell by the pictures, she loved it!

Rebecca's First Birthday

Here's Rebecca, warming up to the idea of the present thing.

At first, she wasn't so sure.

Here was my attempt to get a picture with her and her birthday cake. Before I could snap the picture she got some frosting. Thus the picture.

Picture of the Birthday dinner.

Rebecca and her baby doll, which she loves.
Happy Birthday to my darling, baby girl.

A Reader and a Talker

Emily is really enjoying reading. She loves to read now. She reads by herself and here she is reading to her sister. I love it.

One random picture of the best Daddy with two of his beautiful daughters.

Rebecca is talking on my phone. She says, "Hi!", as she puts it up to her ear. She'll walk around the house with it saying, "hi, hi, hi." When we play peak-a-boo she says, "Hi!" When Daddy comes home she says, "Hi!", with her fabulous great big smile. She's so funny. She's so social and yet she doesn't want anyone but Mommy. She will walk around the room at church and sit there and stare down a person until they look at her and smile and then she'll just give them when of her great big smiles back. And then she runs back to me. Let's just say, I love being the favorite.

She's 1!

(I found this post that hadn't ever been published. Oops.)

These aren't pictures from her B-day. I still have to get them off the camera! But she had fun.

She started walking around 9 1/2 months and by 10 months she could stand up all by herself and walk 12 steps or so. A few days later she decided that if she fell she was going to get right back up and walk. After that crawling was history.

She says, "Dahyee" for Daddy. She says, "mama" most of the time for Mommy and sometimes says, "Mahyee". "Hi" sounds like hi with an extra "ee" at the end. She also makes some sort of sound for "thank you". She's trying to mimic my animal sounds. She loves her sisters and follows them everywhere. I love to see her try to play with a toy that the girls have just deserted. One day Emily had made a little bed/pillow out of a blanket for her babydoll and covered her with a blanket and then left it there. Rebecca came over, took off the blanket, picked up the baby doll and walked away with it. Then she came back, put the baby doll exactly where she had found it and then attempted to cover the baby doll with the dolly blanket. She's learned so much so fast because of following two sisters around.

It's also rare for her to leave in a hair bow, so I enjoy them while they last. :)

We took this toy out of storage around 10 1/2 months. I had to show her how to sit down on the chair, but after that she had it and loves to sit down and bob her head/body to the music. She will bounce to any music, even the hymns at church. She also started

Swing

Rebecca loves the swing. If I need just a few extra minutes to finish something she is perfectly content swinging with the girls pushing her. I love to go push her on the swing just to see this happy smiley face. Oooh, I could just kiss those cheeks!

Rocket Flier

Rebecca has discovered the Rocket Flier. She discovered it without the sounds. She'd use it to stand up and then she'd just explore it. Daddy showed her how we use it. Then in the morning he put batteries in it and now it is once again the favorite toy in our house.

Posing in a Red Bucket

Rebecca thought this was such fun for the first few minutes.
Adorable baby girl. I just had to add a little bow to take her picture.
With the sisters.
And then Meredith was done.

Pulling Up to a Stand

I put my little baby down for her nap and came in to find her not so little anymore. She's getting so big so fast. I took this picture, and then lowered the mattress.
I was a little panicky when I went in to find her doing this. Luckily my sister was with me otherwise there is no way I would have gone for the camera.
Miss Rebecca is also getting really good at looking at me when I say her name. It's so adorable that I just want to say her name all the time. I love it.

Busy Girl

Rebecca has discovered the art of crawling. Not just the scoot and lunge movement she was doing to get where she wanted. She's been crawling for about a week and she is everywhere! Yesterday I left her in the middle of the Living Room and panicked when I couldn't find her. She was in the girls room playing with the toys. I wouldn't have guessed, usually she's trying to find me so she'll either head for the kitchen or my bedroom. She will also find in my bedroom this...
(please see picture).
Oh yes, she loves to get in here and take out all of the movies and take down my books. Just when I got the last child to stop it, here's the next one doing her best to create havoc. And I'm so happy about it, because it means she's a perfect, beautiful little baby.

Playing Gator Golf

Meredith wanted to play with the baby so she brought Gator Golf to her. They were so cute "playing" together.

Trip to Visit Our Utah Family

Getting Grandpa to be wrapped around her little finger.
We loved playing at Chuck-e-Cheese with our cousins, but for some reason Meredith decided to be afraid of the rides, so Daddy had to hold her hand.
Don't be fooled by this picture. Daddy is just barely out of this picture.
Playing some more with cousins. I took this picture because I thought it was interesting watching them play together. You could almost think they were twins from the back.
